Okay... where did I leave off...

Saturday June 7 Today we drove around a lot. Mark wanted to show us where a lot of things were so that we could find them when he was at work. We were also looking for beaches. Funny thing about Mark is that he works so much, he doesnt get out to do fun things a lot. So, it was almost an adventure for all of us, cause sometimes he wasnt sure where things were or what was where.

The first place we drove was Pine Island, about 15 minutes away from Mark's house. We were looking to see if there was a beach there, but we didnt have much luck. We ended up stopping at Dairy Queen for lunch (and their chicken strips were fantastic). Andy and Mark both got milkshakes and the food was very yummy. After that we drove around Pine Island for quite awhile checking things out. It took us about 45 minutes, end to end. Then we decided to go to Fort Myers Beach instead.

On the way there, we stopped at the grocery store, Publix, to pick up a few things. It ended up being more than just a few things - milk, chocolate milk, eggs, cereal, hamburgers, juice, pop, french bread pizza, ice cream toppings, etc. So, we drove back to Mark's house to put that stuff away. I grabbed my sandals (the ones I wanted to actually wear in the water so I didnt mess up my good ones) and we left.

By the time we got to Fort Myers Beach it was getting dark, so we decided not to go to the actual beach. We drove around for awhile, and Mark showed us where a lot of things were on the beach. Being a Saturday night, there were a ton of people out and about. He pointed out a lot of souvineer shops (and even one that will give you a free sand dollar with every purchase).

Then we decided to go miniature golfing. There were three places to choose from, but we chose to go to Smugglers' Cove (I think that is the name). And it was pretty cool!! They actually have a small alligator preserve on their property, and you could buy these food chunks to feed them. So, of course I did. LOL They had these small fishing poles (okay, string attached to a piece of wood), and on the end of the string was a bobby pin. You put the food onto the bobby pin and lowered it to the alligators swimming or sunbathing below. They were so cool, and we got lots of pictures. I couldnt believe how small they were, only 3 feet long or so, but the sign said they were "baby alligators". Where Mark lives, there are a lot of canals, and he said he sees alligators in them all the time, but only the small sized ones. We'll have to go down and check it out.

Mini-golfing was cool. I did really well and the course was a lot of fun. There were a lot of tricky holes and it was a pretty cool course. Mark ended up finishing 1 ahead of Andy, and I think I finished 6 after Andy. We all had a pretty good time, and maybe we'll go again before we leave.

After mini-golfing, we were hungry and decided to go to Applebees. I got the grilled chicken caesar salad, and it was good as always. We also got dessert, to go, cause it looked good but we were so full. I got the carmal cheesecake thingy, Mark got the blondie brownie thing, and Andy got a piece of chocolate cake.

When we got home from Applebees, we pretty much all fell asleep. Mark pulled out pictures and we looked at them for awhile, but Andy dozed on the bed next to me. Eventually, Mark came up on the bed too, and fell asleep as well. I watched the movie that was on for awhile, then they I was fast asleep too.
