July 15 - Andy's "Fun" Day Off
2:02 p.m. || 07.18.03

Tuesday, July 15th Today Andy and I woke up around noon. We laid in bed for awhile, but knew we really had to get up and going cause Andy had court, yet again, at 4pm. Actually, this court date was rescheduled from when we were in Florida, and was for driving through a red light (which he said he didnt do, he was making a right on a red), as well as for his inspection. Andy just thinks the guy wanted to nail him for a DWI (Andy wasnt drinking) cause he said Andy crossed over the yellow line while going around a curve (he was driving in an unfamiliar area). So anyways, we had to get up so we had time to shower and eat before we went to court.

I'm trying to remember what we ate for lunch...... Grr. Oh, I think we finished off the Crazy Bread from Little Caesars, and some of the pizza as well. Yeah, thats what we did. I think Andy showered before we ate, and I showered after, right before we had to leave to go to Ilion for court.

So we leave around 3:30 to drive out to Ilion (we FINALLY got the address THAT morning... the paper Andy got from the court only had a PO Box on it, no street address... he tried to call a million times to the number that was on the paperwork, and no one would ever answer... he finally had to call the Village Clerk and get the info from them. ARGH.) Anyways, it was about a 30 minute drive to Ilion, and we couldnt find the court house, or anything resembling someplace they'd have traffic court, so we went into the Police Station, and asked them. Turns out its basically in the same general building, we just had to go back outside and around the building.

We got there a little before 4 and had to wait for them to open up the courtroom doors. When we got in, we waited about 25 minutes, and they called Andy's name. He went up and spoke to the judge, but since he was pleading not guilty, he had to wait to speak to the DA. So, we waited. And waited. And waited. Like an hour. While all these stupid ass people with their fancy-shmancy lawyers got to go ahead of him. Whatever happened to order? Seemed like if you had a lawyer, you got first dibs. Grrr. The worst part about the whole thing was, the people who had lawyers were the ones who committed real crimes, yet, they were the ones getting their cases taken care of first, while people with traffic tickets sat for hours worrying over how much of a fine and how many points it would cost them. Why shouldn't the real criminals have to wait the time, as further punishment for what they did? Anyways, About 5:45, Andy finally spoke to the DA, who he said was a real ASSHOLE. Said the guy didnt even listen to what Andy had to say, just basically acted like he was guilty from the get-go and told Andy that it's absurd that the Whitesboro cop would tell me what he did (that since he already got a ticket for his inspection being overdue, that if he got pulled over again, all he had to do was show the cop that he had already been ticketed for it, etc. and he was okay). But, the DA and eventually the judge, told Andy that was absolutely wrong. But since Andy was under the impression that what the cop told him was correct, thats why he chose to drive that night he ended up getting the ticket, cause the person supposed to be driving his friends was drunk, so Andy ended up driving. I think I'd rather Andy be driving with his overdue inspection than some drunk, but whatever. Anyways, Andy spoke to the DA and was pretty pissed about it afterwards. A short time later, Andy spoke with the judge (the DA was not present, but had given Andy's ticket back to the judge, so I'm sure there was some sort of note written on it). Andy spoke with the judge, and the judge decided to only charge Andy the surcharge for the inspection ($35), but fined Andy for passing through a red light (which was reduced to some 2-point non-moving violation). He ended up having to pay $115 total. Ugh.

We left around 6:15 and headed over to watch Andy's twin half-brothers, Justin and Ryan, play baseball. The game was a home game at Notre Dame HS, which is two minutes from where Andy lives. I havent seen Justin and Ryan in a few years, and I dont think Andy really has either. We talk online some, but I have only met them once. Andy is not close with his father whatsoever. This was not Andy's choice. At this point, though, too much damage has been done to rectify things between them. Anyways, we get over to the ballfield, and there is no one playing. What is going on? So, we get out of the car and try to look for Justin and Ryan, whom we have not seen in a few years. I happen to look to the left, and I see these two boys (they are 15) and I mention something to Andy about it being them. I guess he didnt hear me, but he picked out the same two boys and said that it was them. So, we walk over and talk to them, and their grandmother (their mom's mom) for awhile. Turns out the team they were supposed to play thought it was at their field (it wasnt) and wouldnt come back down to play at the correct field. So, there was no game. So, we left and headed back over to Andy's house.

When we got there, we talked for a bit about what we wanted to eat, and about the AllStar Game on that night. We were trying to think of someplace different to eat, and I mentioned that I wanted something with chicken in it. He immediately thought of this stand that is set up in the parking lot of Lowes. He had been there before with a friend of his, and really liked it. So, we headed over there, and they had lots of choices. It was just one guy running the stand, and it was a good thing we got there when we did, cause it got a little busy after us. I decided to get a BBQed Chicken sub, and Andy got a Honey Dijon Chicken sub. They were REALLY good!! I'm getting hungry just thinking of them, perhaps I will get one for dinner tonight :) So, we ate those, and by that time, it was time to head home to catch the game. His grandma had talked about it all week (she had wanted to get pizza as well, but Andy and I already ate a ton of pizza this week), so I felt bad if we didnt come home and watch it with her. Plus there were a bunch of Yankees on the team, and it would be fun to watch.

The AL team pulled ahead first, but then the NL took the lead in the 6th or so. The AL ended up winning, and there were a couple of homeruns (one by Jason Giambi!) and the game turned out to be pretty exciting. The final score was 7-6 AL Team, which is better than last year's tie. This also gives the AL home field advantage going into the playoffs this fall. After the game was over, we decided to go over to Hannaford and get everything we'd need to make tacos the next day. Andy's grandma had suggested them, and they sounded really good. So we went over and got everything. We also ended up picking up some strawberries, coolwhip and shortcakes so that we could make strawberry shortcake the next day. Yum! Andy doesnt like strawberrries though, so his 'shortcake' consists of coolwhip and shortcake. Eww! LOL

I dont remember quite what we did that night. I think we probably put on a movie, and laid in bed watching it. I hate not remembering everything. I need to get better at writing these updates, but I was too busy talking to my Lissy last night to write anymore. As it was, this entry has taken me like 15 hours to write LOL
